New Album

Secondhand Serenade is back with their 3rd studio album, Hear Me Now, which hits stores on August 3. Their first single, Something More, is now available on iTunes for download. You can now pre-order your copy of "Hear Me Now" in iTunes! I will be adding Something More to my playlist so do check it out!

Hear Me Now official track-listing:

1. Distance
2. Something More
3. Stay Away
4. You And I
5. Is Anybody Out There
6. Reach For The Sky
7. Only Hope
8. So Long
9. World Turns
10. Nightmares
11. Hear Me Now

My opinion:
I can't wait for Hear Me Now to be released. Something More is bound to be a hit. With their huge hit, "Fall For You", Secondhand Serenade's popularity has increased over the years. John Vesely has gone a little from acoustic to pop in some songs. Although I do prefer his older work, the new songs are pretty sick too. Definitely worth checking out!

Book Review 3

Title: David Copperfield
Author: Charles Dickens

This book is something like a life journal where David shares with readers events that took place in his life. The story starts off with David's birth and the author goes on to introduce some characters. David's father is dead and he stays with his mother and Pegotty, their maid.

David's mother brings home a man who would eventually he David's new father. His name is Mr Murdstone. He does not treat David well and sometimes canes David. David is sent to boarding school. David finds out he now has a younger brother but soon his younger brother dies. More unfortunate incidents occur as David finds out that his mother had died as well!

David is left in Mr Murdstone's care. Mr Murdstone first sacks Pegotty and then remarries. David is coldly neglected and he finally decides to run away from home, and goes to Miss Betsey for help.

Eventually, Miss Betsey lets David stay and David is delighted. The story then goes on with David going around visiting relatives.

David meets the love of his life, Dora and when he turned 21, they got married.
After some time, Dora passes away and David is shattered!

Will David be able to live life without his dear wife? What does his future have in store for him? You'll just have to read on to find out!

My thoughts:
This is quite an inspiring story. It's a good read, but I won't say it's one of the best books i have read. It's not an exciting book that keeps you glued but i guess it's ok

Book Review 2

This is a book review for a classic story.

Title: 20,000 Legues Under The Sea
Author: Jules Verue

The story starts off with reports that an extraordinary sea creature has been seen destorying boats and ships at different oceans. The creature could move from one place to another within a very short period of time.

The United States government decides to take measures to get rid of the terrible "thing". A rapid sailing warship was outfitted with every known weapon to track down and put an end to the creature.

Embarking on this journey were Professor Aronnax, his faithful servant, Conseil, as well as Ned Land. After spending 3 months cruising in the North Pacific, they came to nothing and gave up, and decided to return home.

Just as they were heading back, Professor Aronnax heard Ned shout, " There it is!" Conmmander Farragut reversed the engines and the ship started moving away from the light. The strange glowing animal rushed towards them. Their cannons began firing but instead of exploding, they just bounced off the creature's nack and splashed into the sea. Before Professor Aronnax knew,he found himself on dry land together with Conseil and Ned. Their ship was badly damaged and had left without them.

"Where am I?" asked Professor Aronnax. He sat up and looked around and found out he was on top of a creature! He pressed his hand against its skin. The skin was smooth, polished black steel! This was not a creature, it was a submarine! Not long after, two men appeared. They wore otter-skin caps, sealskin boots and loose-hanging clothes. The captain looked at them carefully for mintues without saying a word. The three guys tried to explain who they were but the captain did not reply. After minutes of silence, the ccaptain called down the hatch and eight crewmen rushed up on deck. They led Ned and the others down an iron ladder, into complete darkness.

The three of them would eventually embark on a remarkable journey with the captain and experience some terrifying moments. The captain was mysterious and kept secrets from them. The three guys eventually wish to escape. Will they make it out alive?

My thoughts:
I think this is a very interesting book. It is a little of a mystery and talks about a remarkable journey across the world. What Professor Aronnax gets to experience is truly amazing. Definitely a great classic which anyone of any age will enjoy!

World Cup 2010

So, the World Cup has started not too long ago and I'm pretty sure that everyone is excited about it. The World Cup takes place every four years and this year, teams like Spain, Brazil, Netherlands and Germany look to win the World Cup.

The germans are in great form, with a recent 4-0 demolition of Australia and not to mention they trashed the South Tyrol U-20 juniors 24-0!!!

Netherlands are not bad either, with lots of quality players on their side. Italy will most definitely not retain the World Cup with an aging squad. Brazil will probably reach the semi finals. England don't look too good and I tink they'll only make it as far as the quarter finals.

The jabulani has come under much criticism from goalkeepers and has seen Robert Green of England make a silly mistake. How will it affect the results of games?

I hope Spain will win the World Cup. With a good squad and in good form, they start off their campaign against Switzerland. There should be no problems for Spain and hopefully Iniesta and Torres get back to full fitness soon.

Book Review 1

The Curious Incident of The Dog In The Night-Time
Author: Mark Haddon

This book is the winner of the whitbread book of the year.

The book talks about the life of a boy, Christopher. The book is somewhat like a diary. Christopher is a very interesting guy and has Asperger's Syndrome. He doesn't like people to touch him, has a pet rat, is afraid of strangers and hates yellow. Chapters in books are usually given in cardinal numbers 1,2,3,4 and so on but he has decided to give his chapter prime numbers 2,3,5,7 and so on, as he likes prime numbers.

The story starts off with Christopher discovering that his neighbour's dog, Wellington, had been killed with a garden fork. Christopher liked dogs so he was determined to find out who killed Wellington. The story isn't mostly about who killed Wellington, you'll see.

Christopher lives with his father and his father told him his mother has died. According to Christopher, seeing 4 red cars in a row made it a good day, 3 red cars in a row made it a Quite Good Day, and 5 cars in a row made it a Super Good Day. However, 4 yellow cars in a row made it a Black Day. Christopher goes to a school for children with special needs.

Christopher finds out that his mother is actually not dead!! His father has been keeping letters from Christopher's mother which were meant for Christopher. His mother now lives in London with Mr Shears, who is, well was the owner of Wellington too.

Upon finding out who killed Wellington, Christopher runs away from home and embarks on a journey to get to London on his own.

Toby, Christopher's pet rat dies!!!

Will he make it to London? Who killed Wellington? What will happen to Christopher? What happened to Toby? How will the story end? You'll just have to read the book and find out!

My thoughts:

I like this book a lot and I wish it never ended. Once you start reading it, you'll never want to put it down. It is a very remarkable and rewarding read and everyone should have to read it! Hope you do!
